The present invention provides a method of alleviating signs and symptoms of spasticity in human patient comprising orally administering to said human patients once in a day a controlled drug delivery system comprising an effective daily dose of baclofen or its pharmaceutically acceptable salt wherein said method is associated with reduced level of sedation in said patients having signs and symptoms of spasticity as compared to levels of sedation associated with conventional baclofen therapy with immediate release tablets administered three times a day on the same total daily dose.
