The invention relates to a method for electrolytically coating metalswith zinc or a zinc alloy. Matt surfaces are obtained by depositing zinc from an electrolyte solution containing a zinc salt selected from zinc sulphate or an alkane sulphate of zinc or mixtures thereof and optionally other metal salts, an acid selected from sulphuric acid or an alkane sulphonic acid or a mixture of both acids and at least one additive for improving surface roughness and for avoiding dendritic edge growth, selected from surface active compounds containing nitrogen which can be ionic or non-ionic, anionic surface active compounds containing nitrogen, and surface active compounds derived from multi- fuctional alcohols with at least three hydroxy groups. The invention also relates to an electrolytic composition for an electrolytically coating of metals with zinc or zinc alloys, in addition to the use of the above-mentioned additives for improving surface roughness and avoiding dentritic edge growth when metals are electrolytically coated with zinc or a zinc alloy in an electrolyte containing alkane sulphonic acid.
L'invention concerne un procédé pour appliquer, par voie électrolytique, un revêtement constitué de zinc ou d'alliage de zinc sur des métaux. Selon ce procédé, on obtient des surfaces mates par dépôt de zinc présent dans une solution d'électrolyte qui contient : un sel de zinc sélectionné parmi un sulfate de zinc ou un sulfonate d'alcane du zinc, ou des mélanges de ces derniers, et éventuellement d'autres sels métalliques ; un acide sélectionné parmi l'acide sulfurique ou un acide alkylsulfonique ou un mélange des deux acides ; et au moins un additif pour réduire la rugosité superficielle et éviter une croissance dendritique d'arêtes, ledit additif étant sélectionné parmi des composés tensioactifs contenant de l'azote et pouvant être ioniques ou non ioniques, des composés tensioactifs anioniques contenant du soufre, ainsi que des composés tensioactifs à base d'alcools multifonctionnels comportant au moins trois groupes hydroxy. L'invention concerne en outre un composition électrolytique pour appliquer, par voie électrolytique, un revêtement constitué de zinc ou d'alliages de zinc sur des métaux, ainsi que l'utilisation des additifs mentionnés pour réduire la rugosité superficielle et éviter la croissance dendritique d'arêtes lors de l'application, par voie électrolytique, du revêtement constitué de zinc ou d'alliage de zinc dans un électrolyte contenant de l'acide alkylsulfonique, sur des métaux.
