A method and mobile device for location determination using sequential pattern recognition are disclosed. The method comprises determining a specific sequence of identifiers of a plurality of base transceiver stations that control cells through which a mobile device has passed when travelling along a path. The specific sequence of identifiers of a plurality of base transceiver stations are compared with a look-up table stored in a database. The look-up table comprises all possible sequence of identifiers of base transceiver stations and a location for each of the sequence of identifiers of base transceiver stations. The location of the path is determined from the comparison.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif mobile de détermination d'emplacement faisant appel à la reconnaissance de motif séquentiel. Le procédé consiste à déterminer une séquence spécifique d'identificateurs de plusieurs stations émettrices-réceptrices de base qui commandent des cellule par lesquelles un dispositif mobile est passé lorsqu'il parcourt un trajet. On compare la séquence spécifique d'identificateurs desdites stations avec une table de consultation stockée dans une base de données. Cette table de consultation renferme toutes les séquences d'identificateurs possibles des stations émettrices-réceptrices de base et un emplacement de chacune d'elles. On détermine l'emplacement du trajet sur la base de la comparaison.
