Disclosed is a method for producing a .beta.-diaryl electron-withdrawing group substituted compound at high yield with high selectivity. Specifically, an optically active .beta.-diaryl electron-withdrawing group substituted compound represented by the general formula (V) below is produced by reacting an electron-withdrawing group substituted-.beta.-arylolefin derivative represented by the general formula (I) below with an arylboron represented by the following general formula (II): Ar2-BXmMn in the presence of a compound represented by the following general formula (IV): RhYoL1 p(Chiraphos)q (wherein Y represents ClO4, BF4, PF6, SbF6, OTf, a halogen atom, a hydroxy group, an alkoxy group or an acyloxy group, and L1 represents an organic ligand). L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'un composé substitué par un groupement ß-diaryle accepteur d'électrons avec un rendement et une sélectivité élevés. Plus précisément, un composé optiquement actif substitué par un groupement ß-diaryle accepteur d'électrons représenté par la formule générale (V) ci-dessous est obtenu par réaction d'un dérivé de ß-aryloléfine substitué par un groupement accepteur d'électrons représenté par la formule générale (I) ci-dessous avec un arylbore représenté par la formule générale (II) suivante : Ar<SUP>2</SUP>-BX<SUB>m</SUB>M<SUB>n</SUB> en présence d'un composé représenté par la formule générale (IV) suivante : RhY<SUB>o</SUB>L<SUP>1</SUP>
