A method is disclosed for the regulation of lignin composition in plant tissue. Plants are transformed with a gene encoding an active F5H gene. The expression of the F5H gene results in increased levels of syringyl monomer providing a lignin composition more easily degraded with chemicals and enzymes.
L'invention porte sur un procédé de régulation de la composition de la lignine dans un tissu végétal. On modifie des végétaux au moyen d'un gène codant un gène F5H actif. L'expression du gène F5H se solde par la présence de concentrations élevées d'un monomère de syringyle donnant une composition de la lignine facilement dégradée par des substances chimiques et des enzymes.
