A method for providing searching and alerting capabilities in traffic content at access points in data networks is disclosed. Typical access points for Internet, intranet and wireless traffic are described. Traffic flow through an Internet Service Provider is used as a preferred embodiment to exemplify the data traffic used as the input source in the invention. The invention teaches how proper privacy and content filters can be applied to the traffic source. The filtered data stream from the traffic flow can be used to improve the quality of existing searching and alerting services. The invention also teaches how a cache can be developed optimized for holding fresh searchable information captured in the traffic flow. It is further disclosed how the said cache can be converted to a searchable index and either separately or in cooperation with external search indexes be used as a basis for improved search services. The invention also discloses how the traffic flow can be analyzed in order to derive addes information for measuring document relevance, access similarity between documents, personalized ranking of search results, and regional differences in document accesses.
La présente invention concerne un procédé qui assure des capacités de recherche et d'avertissement dans un contenu de trafic au niveau de points d'accès dans des réseaux de données. Des points d'accès spécifiques pour Internet, intranet et le trafic sans fil sont présentés. Le flux de trafic à travers un fournisseur de service Internet est utilisé comme forme de réalisation préférée pour illustrer le trafic des données sur lequel se fonde la présente invention. Cette invention démontre comment des filtres de confidentialité et de contenu peuvent être utilisés pour la source du trafic. Le flux de données filtrées provenant du flux de trafic peut être utilisé pour améliorer la qualité des services de recherche et d'avertissement existants. Cette invention montre également comment une mémoire cache peut être mise en oeuvre de manière optimisée pour conserver des informations toutes nouvelles pouvant être recherchées qui ont été extraites du flux de trafic. L'invention montre également comment la mémoire cache peut être transformée en un index pouvant être recherché et utilisé, soit séparément soit en coopération avec des index de recherche externes, en tant que base pour des services de recherche améliorés. Cette invention démontre également comment le flux de trafic peut être analysé pour obtenir des informations supplémentaires servant à mesurer la pertinence de documents, la similarité d'accès entre des documents, le classement personnalisé de résultats de recherche et les différences régionales dans l'accès aux documents.
