A method for sterilising a medical device comprising a hydrophilic coating using radiation said method comprising the steps of bringing the medical device having such coating in contact with an aqueous liquid for wetting the hydrophilic coating, said liquid comprising a solution of a hydrophilic polymer and sterilising the device by applying a sufficient amount of radiation provides coated devices showing a significantly increased and prolonged water retention and lower friction coefficient when wet.

Divulgation d'une méthode de stérilisation par irradiation d'un dispositif médical comportant un revêtement hydrophile. Ladite méthode consiste à mettre le dispositif médical ayant ledit revêtement en contact avec un liquide aqueux de manière à mouiller le revêtement hydrophile, ledit liquide comportant une solution d'un polymère hydrophile, et à stériliser le dispositif en irradiant avec une dose suffisante de rayonnement. Ce procédé permet d'obtenir des dispositifs avec revêtement présentant une capacité de rétention d'eau considérablement accrue et prolongée ainsi qu'un coefficient de frottement inférieur à l'état humide.
