The invention relates to a method for determining homocysteine concentration in samples in which homocysteine is condensed using an enzyme cystathionine .beta. synthase to form cystathionine. Pyruvate and/or ammonia are released from cystathionine by action of an enzyme, cystathionine .beta. lyase, and homocysteine is regenerated. The release of pyruvate and/or ammonia can be correlated to the concentration of homocysteine present in the sample.
L'invention concerne une méthode de détermination de la concentration d'homocystéine dans des échantillons dans lesquels l'homocystéine est condensée au moyen d'un enzyme, la cystathionine beta synthase, pour former de la cystathionine. Le pyruvate et/ou l'ammoniac sont libérés de la cystathionine par l'action d'un enzyme, la cystathionine beta lyase, puis l'homocystéine est régénéré. La libération du pyruvate et/ou de l'ammoniac peut être corrélée à la concentration d'homocystéine présente dans l'échantillon.
