A method for the use of material containing carbon as a packing material, anode mass or collar mass in connection with the electrolytic production of aluminium. The material is formed by granulating a mass which contains carbon particles and a binder. The carbon particles may comprise a carbon material which has been returned from the aluminium production process. The binder may comprise tar which is collected in connection with burning anodes. The carbon particles may comprise butt filter dust and can contain contaminants such as sodium (Na) and fluorine (F). By adding a powder/dust which contains silicon oxide (SiO2) to the mass, the contaminants can be rendered harmless. The added material can be formed by crushing and grinding used cassette stone (chamotte) to dust. The present invention makes possible comprehensive reuse of several waste products of the electrolytic production of aluminium.
Procédé pour l'utilisation d'une matière renfermant du carbone à titre de matière de remplissage, de masse anodique ou de masse de garniture en relation avec la production électrolytique de l'aluminium. On obtient cette matière par granulation d'une masse renfermant des particules de carbone et un liant. Les particules de carbone peuvent comporter une matière carbonée récupérée à partir du processus de production de l'aluminium. Le liant peut comporter du goudron recueilli en relation avec les anodes brûlées. Les particules de carbone peuvent comporter des poussières obtenues par filtrage des déchets anodiques, et renfermer des contaminants tels que du sodium (Na) et du fluor (F). L'adjonction à la masse d'une poudre ou de poussières renfermant de l'oxyde de silicium (SiO¿2?) permet de rendre les contaminants inoffensifs. La matière d'apport peut être obtenue par concassage et broyage de pierre réfractaire (chamotte) ces opérations permettant d'obtenir des poussières. Grâce à ce procédé, on peut recycler plusieurs types de déchets résultant de la production électrolytique de l'aluminium.
