In a subscriber line interface circuit (1) connected to a two-wire telephone line (A, B) for transmitting AC signals, one (A) of the wires is set to a high DC voltage lower than a first DC voltage (GND), while the other wire (B) is set to a low DC voltage higher than a second DC voltage (VREG). First means (10, 11) are provided for setting, for AC signals on said one wire (A), a first threshold voltage (VTHA) between said first DC voltage (GND) and said high DC voltage, and/or, for AC signals on said other wire (B), a second threshold voltage (VTHB) between said low DC voltage and said second DC voltage (VREG). To automatically adapt the signal headroom to the actual amplitude of the AC signals, second means (2, 3, 4, 5) are provided for controlling the voltage difference (VA) between said first DC voltage (GND) and said high DC voltage and/or the voltage difference (VB) between said low DC voltage and said second DC voltage (VREG) as long as the instantaneous value (va) of the signal on said one wire (A) equals the first threshold voltage (VTHA) and/or the instantaneous value (vb) of the signal on said other wire (B) equals the second threshold voltage (VTHB).

Dans un circuit d'interface (1) d'une ligne d'abonné connecté à une ligne téléphonique bifilaire (A, B) pour la transmission de signaux CA, un (A) des fils est réglé à une tension CC élevée inférieure à une première tension CC (Terre), et l'autre fil (B) est réglé à une tension CC faible supérieure à une seconde tension CC (VREG). De premiers moyens (10, 11) permettent de régler, pour les signaux CA du premier fil (A), une première tension seuil (VTHA) située entre la première tension CC (Terre) et la tension CC élevée, et/ou pour les signaux CA de l'autre fil (B), une seconde tension seuil (VTHB) située entre la tension CC faible et la seconde tension CC (VREG). Pour adapter automatiquement la marge de saturation des signaux à l'amplitude actuelle des signaux CA, de seconds moyens (2, 3, 4, 5) permettent de commander la différence de tension (VA) entre la première tension CC (GND) et la tension CC élevée et/ou la différence de tension (VB) entre la tension CC faible et la seconde tension CC (VREG) jusqu'à ce que la valeur instantanée (va) du signal du premier fil (A) soit égale à la première tension seuil (VTHA) et/ou la valeur instantanée (vb) du signal de l'autre fil (B) soit égale à la seconde tension seuil (VTHB).
