A method of controlling noise in an impact printer that modulates the input pulse to the power amplifier of the printer. The resulting current waveform is then applied to the print wire solenoids. The final shape of the force input to the platen reduces or spreads the spectral envelope containing problem harmonics and acoustic output noise.

Procédé servant à limiter le bruit d'une imprimante à impact et consistant à moduler l'impulsion d'entrée de l'amplificateur de puissance de l'imprimante. On applique ensuite le signal de courant obtenu aux électroaimants de la table d'impression. La forme finale de l'entrée de force dans la platine limite ou diffuse l'enveloppe spectrale contenant des harmoniques problématiques et un bruit de sortie acoustique.
