The present invention relates generally to a method of screening for a neoplastic cell in a subject. More particularly, the present invention provides a method of screening for both viable neoplastic cells and, still further, cytotoxin induced neoplastic cell death by detecting the level of expression of La protein and/or gene by a cellular population in said subject or in a biological sample derived from said subject. The method of the present invention is useful in a range of applications including, but not limited to, diagnosing, prognosing or assessing a neoplastic condition, monitoring the progression of such a condition, assessing the effectiveness of a therapeutic agent or therapeutic regime and predicting the likelihood of a subject either progressing to a more advanced disease state or entering a remissive state. The present invention also provides diagnostic agents useful for detecting La protein and/or nucleic acid molecules.
La présente invention concerne d'une façon générale un procédé de recherche systématique de cellule néoplasique chez un sujet. L'invention concerne plus particulièrement sur un procédé de recherche systématique à la fois, d'une part de cellules néoplasiques viables, et de mort de cellules néoplasiques induite par cytotoxine, et ce, par détection du niveau d'expression de protéine La et/ou de gène par une population cellulaire chez le sujet considéré ou dans un échantillon biologique dérivé du sujet considéré. Le procédé de l'invention convient à toute une gamme d'applications dont notamment le diagnostic ou la confirmation d'un état néoplasique, la surveillance de la progression d'un tel état, la confirmation de l'efficacité d'un agent thérapeutique ou d'un schéma posologique, et la prédiction de la vraisemblance qu'un sujet atteigne un état pathologique plus avancé ou entre dans un état de rémission. L'invention concerne également des agents thérapeutiques convenant à la détection de la protéine La et/ou de molécules d'acides nucléiques.
