The present invention relates generally to a method of screening for the level of neoplastic cell death in a subject. More particularly, the present invention provides a method of screening for the level of neoplastic cell death by detecting the level of expression of telomerase protein and/or gene by dead cells in said subject or in a biological sample derived from said subject. The method of the present invention is useful in a range of applications including, but not limited to, assessing a neoplastic condition, monitoring the progression of such a condition, assessing the effectiveness of a therapeutic agent or therapeutic regime and predicting the likelihood of a subject either progressing to a more advanced disease state or entering a remissive state. The present invention also provides diagnostic agents useful for detecting telomerase protein and/or nucleic acid molecules.
La présente invention concerne généralement un procédé de criblage pour connaître le niveau de la mort des cellules néoplasiques chez un sujet. Plus particulièrement, la présente invention propose un procédé de criblage pour connaître niveau de la mort des cellules néoplasiques au moyen de la détection du niveau d~expression de la protéine télomérase et/ou du gène par les cellules mortes chez ledit sujet ou dans un échantillon biologique dérivé dudit sujet. Le procédé de la présente invention est utile dans une gamme d~applications comprenant, mais sans y être limité, l~évaluation d~une condition néoplasique, le contrôle de la progression d~une telle condition, l~évaluation de l~efficacité d~un agent thérapeutique ou d~un régime thérapeutique et la prévision de la probabilité de la progression d~un sujet vers un état de maladie plus avancé ou de son entrée dans un état de rémission. La présente invention propose aussi des agents de diagnostic utiles pour la détection de la protéine télomérase et/ou des molécules d~acide nucléique.
