In a method of drying sewage sludge, the same is mechanically predehydrated by pressing, centrifuging or the like, and mixed with calcium compounds before and/or after the predehydration. To achieve maximum degrees of dryness in a most efficient way, carbon-dioxide-containing gas is passed through the predehydrated sewage sludge mixed with a calcium compound, preferably burnt lime and/or lime milk, so that the calcium hydroxide distributed in the sewage sludge is completely carbonated with the carbon dioxide content of the gase entering into the sewage sludge, and the water still contained in the sewage sludge and produced during the carbonation is discharged together with the gas escaping from the sewage sludge as carrier medium.
Méthode de séchage de boues d'épuration, selon laquelle les boues sont prédéshydratées mécaniquement par pressage, par centrifugation ou autre procédé semblable et mélangées à des composés de calcium avant et/ou après l'étape de prédéshydratation. Pour obtenir un taux d'assèchement maximal avec une grande efficacité, on peut faire passer un gaz contenant du bioxyde de carbone dans les boues prédéshydratées mélangées avec un composé de calcium, de préférence de la chaux vive et/ou du lait de chaud, afin que l'hydroxyde de calcium additionné aux boues soit complètement carbonaté avec le bioxyde de carbone contenu dans le gaz pénétrant dans les boues. L'eau résiduelle toujours présente dans les boues et l'eau résultant de la carbonatation est évacuée avec le gaz s'échappant des boues, qui agit comme agent véhiculeur.
