A method of assigning feedback information in a portion of a Medium Access Control (MAC) channel in a wireless communication system is disclosed. More specifically, the method includes receiving at least two pilot signal from an access network (AN) (410) on at least two forward traffic channel, transmitting at least two channel quality information (401, 402, 403) on a single reverse carrier to the AN (410) reporting at least one of strength and quality of each corresponding forward pilot channel, wherein the channel quality information indicates a desired data rate for receiving data on the corresponding forward traffic channel, and receiving feedback information through a forward control channel (405) of the AN (410), wherein the feedback information includes combined channel quality information which indicates whether or not the AN (410) is able to receive multiple channel quality information sent by an access terminal (AT) (400) on the single reverse carrier.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant d'affecter des informations rétroactives dans une partie d'un canal de commande d'accès au support (MAC) dans un système de communications sans fil. Plus précisément, le procédé consiste notamment à recevoir au moins un signal pilote provenant d'un réseau d'accès (AN) sur au moins deux canaux de trafic aval, à émettre au moins des informations de qualité de deux canaux sur une seule porteuse inverse vers AN signalant au moins la résistance ou la qualité de chaque canal pilote aval correspondant, Les informations de qualité de canal indiquant un débit binaire recherché pour recevoir des données sur le canal de trafic aval correspondant, et à recevoir des informations rétroactives par le biais d'un canal de commande aval de AN. Les informations rétroactives comportent des informations de qualité de canal indiquant si AN peut ou ne peut pas recevoir des informations de qualité de canaux multiples envoyées par un terminal d'accès (AT) sur la seule porteuse inverse.
