The present invention relates to the use of polyPCPD materials as gravel for treating subterranean formations, particularly for sand control operations. The disclosed method of sand control consists in gravel packing a well and comprises the injection of a slurry into a well, with the slurry containing a fluid and a particulate material comprising polydicyclopentadiene particles. The method provides a better retention of formation sand and fines due to a more uniform packing of polydicyclopentadiene particles.
