A method of improving the properties of urea granulates, more especially the caking tendency, the dust formation and the foaming tendency in aqueous media, by the addition of an additive to the urea, wherein the additive comprises a carboxylic acid compound with the general formula XY-(Z)-COOH, in which Z is a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon with 1-25 carbon atoms and X and Y are selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom or a polar organic functional group, and in that the additive is added as a solution in a polar solvent to the urea granulates, which are subsequently dried.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant d'améliorer les propriétés de granules d'urée et plus précisément par rapport à la tendance à la concrétion, à la formation de poussière et à la tendance au moussage dans un milieu aqueux, consistant à ajouter un additif à l'urée. Cet additif renferme un composé à base d'acide carboxylique représenté par la formule générale XY-(Z)-COOH, dans laquelle Z désigne un hydrocarbure saturé ou insaturé comportant 1-25 atomes de carbone et X et Y désignent des éléments sélectionnés dans le groupe comprenant un atome d'hydrogène ou un groupe fonctionnel organique polaire. Cet additif est ajouté sous forme de solution dans un solvant polaire aux granules d'urée qui sont ensuite séchés.
