The invention relates to a method of increasing the adhesion of a radiation- cured, inner primary, optical glass fiber coating on an optical glass fiber, said method comprising the steps of: 1) exposing at least a section of said optical glass fiber to electron beam radiation at a level sufficient to induce bonding with a radiation-curable, optical glass fiber coating composition; 2) applying said radiation-curable, optical glass fiber coating composition onto said electron beam exposed optical glass fiber, said coating composition containing at least one monomer or oligomer having a radiation-curable functional group which can form free radicals in the presence of actinic radiation; and 3) exposing said coated optical glass fiber to actinic radiation to thereby cure said inner primary coating.

L'invention concerne un procédé servant à augmenter l'adhérence d'un revêtement intérieur de base durci par rayonnement sur une fibre optique en verre, ce qui consiste à (1) exposer au moins une section de ladite fibre optique à un rayonnement par faisceau d'électrons à un niveau suffisant pour provoquer l'adhérence avec une composition de revêtement de fibre optique en verre durcie par rayonnement; (2) appliquer ladite composition de revêtement sur ladite fibre optique exposée au faisceau d'électrons, ladite composition de revêtement contenant au moins un monomère ou un oligomère possédant un groupe fonctionnel durcissant sous l'effet d'un rayonnement et pouvant créer des radicaux libres en présence d'un rayonnement actinique; (3) exposer ladite fibre optique revêtue à un rayonnement actinique afin de durcir ledit revêtement intérieur de base.
