The invention concerns a method which consists in producing a fibrous structure by layering fibrous texture strata and mutually linking the strata by needle-bonding, such that the layered fibre strata extend substantially in orthogonal first (X) and second (Y) directions, the strata being mutually linked by fibres displaced in a third direction (Z) relative to the strata by the needle-bonding, and a piston preform is cut out in the needle-bonded structure such that one of the first and second directions (X, Y) is parallel to the generators of the preform surface corresponding to the piston lateral cylindrical surface. The preform is densified at least partially by the material constituting the composite material matrix and the piston is machined in the densified preform.

Une structure fibreuse est réalisée par superposition de strates de texture fibreuse et liaison des strates entre elles par aiguilletage, de sorte que les fibres des strates superposées s'étendent essentiellement dans une première direction (X) et une deuxième direction (Y) orthogonales, les strates étant liées entre elles par des fibres déplacées par l'aiguilletage dans une troisième direction (Z) transversale par rapport aux strates, et une préforme de piston est découpée dans la structure fibreuse aiguilletée de sorte que l'une des première et deuxième directions (X, Y) soit parallèle aux génératrices de la surface de la préforme correspondant à la surface cylindrique latérale du piston. La préforme est densifiée au moins partiellement par la matière constitutive de la matrice du matériau composite et le piston est usiné dans la préforme densifiée.
