A method of microwave treatment of wood with a moisture content (based on dry weight) of at least 12 % for rapid drying and stress relief which includes determining an area of the wood that is not to be treated, selectively subjecting a surface of the wood outside said determined area to microwave radiation at a frequency (f) in the range of from about 0.1 to about 24 GHz to provide a modified wood zone having increased permeability relative to the untreated wood, wherein said zone is located in an exterior shell of the wood and has wooden rays directed from the core of the wood to the irradiated surface.
La présente invention concerne un procédé destiné au traitement aux micro-ondes de bois ayant une teneur en humidité (basée sur un poids sec) d'au moins 12%, ledit procédé permettant un séchage rapide et une suppression des contraintes et comprenant les étapes suivantes : détection d'une zone du bois qui n'a pas été traitée ; exposition sélective d'une surface du bois hors de ladite zone détectée, à un rayonnement à micro-ondes à une fréquence (f) de l'ordre d'environ 0,1 à environ 24 GHz, afin de produire une zone de bois modifiée ayant une certaine perméabilité par rapport au bois non traité, ladite zone étant située dans une couche externe du bois et présentant des rayons de bois dirigés du coeur du bois à la surface exposée aux rayons.
