A method of operating an aircraft fuel management system for an aircraft having at least one fuel tank, each fuel tank having an associated fuel quantity indicator arranged to provide an indication of the amount of fuel in the associated fuel tank, the method comprising calculating a value for the amount of fuel on board (FOB_FailedFQI) the aircraft to be utilised by the fuel management system in the event of a failure of at least one of the fuel quantity indicators, the amount of fuel on board being calculated as a value for the initial amount of fuel on board (FOBinit) minus the amount of fuel used. Additionally or alternatively a value for the gross weight centre of gravity of the aircraft is calculated using an assigned value of fuel for each of the fuel tanks having an associated failed fuel quantity indicator.

Linvention concerne un procédé dexploitation dun système de gestion du carburant dun aéronef, laéronef possédant au moins un réservoir de carburant, chaque réservoir de carburant comportant un indicateur de quantité de carburant associé conçu pour fournir une indication de la quantité de carburant dans le réservoir de carburant associé, le procédé comprenant létape consistant à calculer une valeur représentant la quantité de carburant à bord (FOB_FailedFQI) de laéronef destinée à être utilisée par le système de gestion du carburant en cas de défaillance dau moins un des indicateurs de quantité de carburant, la quantité de carburant à bord étant calculée en soustrayant à une valeur représentant la quantité initiale de carburant à bord (FOBinit) la quantité de carburant utilisée. Le procédé comprend en outre, ou en variante, létape consistant à calculer une valeur représentant le centre de gravité pour poids total en charge de laéronef à partir dune valeur assignée de carburant pour chacun des réservoirs de carburant comportant un indicateur de quantité de carburant associé défaillant.
