L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de prévoir les propriétés à la rupture d'un matériau particulaire lorsqu'il est soumis à un choc, le procédé incluant : le calcul de l'indice de rupture pour le matériau particulaire en utilisant l'équation suivante : Indice de rupture = M{I - exp[- ~mat x k - E]} où : M représente la rupture maximale des particules pour le matériau particulaire ; ~mat est un paramètre de matériau qui est fonction du matériau particulaire cassé et de la taille des particules ; x représente la taille initiale des particules du matériau particulaire avant le choc ; E représente une mesure de l'énergie spécifique appliquée au matériau particulaire ; et k représente le nombre de chocs avec l'énergie spécifique E.
