Disclosed is a method of preparing a biocide having improved durability of its biocidal activity as well as disinfection efficiency at an initial stage, comprising the steps of: (a) preparing stabilized alkali or alkaline earth metal hypochlorite having a pH at least 11 by mixing a chlorine oxidant including alkali or alkaline earth metal hypochlorite with a stabilizer in an alkali solution; (b) preparing a bromide ion source; and (c) adding the bromide ion source prepared in step (b) into the stabilized alkali or alkaline earth metal hypochlorite prepared in step (a). Also, a method of controlling the growth of microorganisms using a biocide prepared by the method of the present invention is disclosed.

L'invention concerne un procédé de préparation d'un biocide possédant une durabilité améliorée de son activité biocide ainsi qu'une efficacité de désinfection lors d'une étape initiale. Ce procédé consiste (a) à préparer un hypochlorite métallique alcalinoterreux ou alcalin stabilisé ayant un pH d'au moins 11 par mélange d'un oxydant de chlore contenant un hypochlorite métallique alcalino-terreux ou alcalin avec un agent stabilisant dans une solution alcaline, (b) à préparer une source d'ions de bromure, et (c) à ajouter la source d'ions de bromure préparée à l'étape (b) dans l'hypochlorite métallique alcalino-terreux ou alcalin préparé à l'étape (a). Cette invention concerne aussi un procédé de régulation de la croissance de micro-organismes à l'aide d'un biocide préparé par ce procédé de ladite invention.
