A roller apparatus and a method of rolling in particular superconductors, wherein a roller apparatus is used that comprises two roller bodies arranged opposite each other whereby the roller bodies form opposed roller surface planes; and wherein means are arranged for driving the two roller elements about their axes of symmetry in such a manner that the element to be rolled is pulled in between the roller surface planes by the friction generated between the element to be rolled and the roller surface planes. In accordance with the invention, the roller apparatus is so configured that the roller bodies comprise at least two annular or tubular roller bodies; and wherein the annular or tubular roller bodies are further provided with surfaces that form an annular track; and in that the roller apparatus has a pressure device which is arranged for abutment on the annular track in such a manner that the roller surface planes are pressed towards each other; and wherein the pressure device is configured and located in such a manner that the pressure device is in abutment on only a fraction of the annular track on the annular or tubular rollers. Hereby it is possible to roll with very large roller diameters without ensuing significant risk of the rollers being undesirably deformed during the roller process. In particular for the rolling of superconductors, experiments have shown that improved properties are obtained for the rolled superconductor.

L'invention concerne un galet et un procédé consistant à faire passer des supraconducteurs entre des galets. Le galet comprend deux corps de galet disposés à l'opposé, lesdits corps de galet déterminent des surfaces de galets opposés. Les organes sont disposés de manière à entraîner les deux éléments galet autour de leurs axes de symétrie de manière que l'élément à faire passer entre les galets soit tiré entre la surface de galet par le frottement généré entre l'élément qui doit passer entre les galets et les surfaces des galets. Selon l'invention, le galet est configuré de telle sorte que les corps de galet comprennent au moins deux corps de galet annulaires ou tubulaires. Ces corps de galet annulaires ou tubulaires présentent ensuite des surfaces qui forment une piste annulaire. Le galet présente un dispositif de pression qui est disposé de manière à s'appuyer sur la piste annulaire de manière que les surfaces de galets soient pressées les unes contre les autres. Le dispositif de pression est configuré et placé de manière à s'appuyer sur une partie seulement de la piste annulaire sur les galets annulaires ou tubulaires. Il est ainsi possible d'effectuer le passage entre les galets en utilisant des diamètres de galet très grands sans que les galets ne risquent d'être déformés pendant le processus de passage entre les galets. En ce qui concerne plus particulièrement le passage des supraconducteurs entre les galets, les expériences montrent que l'on obtient des propriétés améliorées pour le supraconducteur qui est passé entre les galets.
