In connection with the segmenting of a digital image divided into small elements (pixels) and acquired with a camera having several colour channels, to discern an object from a background, the daylight locus and the colour locus of the camera are, a priori, modelled after to the body reflectance characteristic of the subject. In this way a normal vector (nS) to the daylight locus is determined a priori and for each pixel, the scalar product between a colour vector (cf) of the element in the form of the response from the colour channels of the camera and the normal vector of the daylight locus is calculated, following which the element is characterized as representing object or background on basis of the calculation result, the elements characterized as objects (1) being assigned one value and the elements characterized as background being assigned a second value. On basis of the segmented image a control signal for an implement (4) is derived.
L'invention concerne la segmentation d'une image numérique divisée en petits éléments (pixels) et capturée avec une caméra dotée de divers canaux de couleur, permettant de distinguer un objet d'un fond. Le locus de lumière naturelle et le locus de couleur de la caméra sont, à priori, déterminés par rapport à la caractéristique de réflectance du corps du sujet. De cette façon, un vecteur normal (n¿S?) du locus de lumière naturelle est déterminé à priori, et pour chaque pixel, le produit scalaire entre un vecteur de couleur (C¿f?) de l'élément sous forme de réponse des canaux de couleur de la caméra et du vecteur normal du locus de lumière naturelle est calculé, après quoi l'élément est caractérisé comme objet ou fond sur la base du résultat des calculs. Les éléments caractérisés comme objets (1) se voient assigner une valeur et les éléments caractérisés comme fond se voient assigner une autre valeur. Un signal de commande destiné à un instrument (4) est dérivé de l'image segmentée.
