The invention concerns the use of homo- or copolymers A as branching agents for thermoplastic polymers containing amino groups. The homo- or copolymers A are composed of: A1) between 40 and 100 wt.% monomers of general formula (I); A2) between 0 and 60 wt.% of monomers of general formula (II); and A3) between 0 and 10 wt.% of further radically polymerizable monomers, the weight percentages of monomers A1) to A3) totalling 100 % and the substituents having the following meanings: R1, R4, which may be identical or different, designate the rests hydrogen or C1-C4 alkyl; R2, R3, R5, R6, which may be identical or different, designate the rests hydrogen or C1-C4 alkyl, provided that at least two rests from the group R1, R2, R3 and the group R4, R5, R6 are hydrogen; and R7 designates an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl rest.
