An implantable pulse generator or external trial stimulator for coupling to a lead with a distal end and a proximal end, the lead comprising at least one terminal disposed at the proximal end. The implantable pulse generator comprises a connector for receiving the proximal end of the lead, the connector having at least one contact, and a sensor configured and arranged for detecting electrical connectivity between the implantable pulse generator or external trial stimulator and the lead, the sensor comprising at least one sensor contact, the sensor contact being configured and arranged for electrically coupling to a terminal of the lead and at least one of the contacts of the connector when the lead is fully inserted in the connector and thereby detecting electrical connectivity between the implantable pulse generator or external trial stimulator and the lead. La présente invention concerne un générateur d'impulsions implantable ou un stimulateur d'essai externe destiné à être couplé à un fil possédant une extrémité distale et une extrémité proximale. Ledit fil comprend au moins un terminal disposé à l'extrémité proximale. Le générateur d'impulsions implantable comprend les éléments suivants : un connecteur destiné à accueillir l'extrémité proximale du fil, ledit connecteur possédant au moins un contact ; et un capteur configuré et disposé pour détecter une connectivité électrique entre le générateur d'impulsions implantable ou le stimulateur de fil externe et le fil. Le capteur comprend au moins un contact de capteur, ledit contact de capteur étant configuré et disposé de manière à être couplé électriquement à un terminal du fil et à au moins l'un des contacts du connecteur lorsque le fil est entièrement inséré dans le connecteur ; ceci permet de détecter la connectivité électrique entre le générateur d'impulsions implantable ou le stimulateur d'essai externe et le fil.
