An external mirror assembly for an automotive vehicle has a shell having an aperture. A mirror is carried by the shell, substantially occluding the aperture. An electroluminescent film electrically is connected to a triggering device for illuminating the mirror assembly. In one embodiment the mirror is dichroic and the electroluminescent film illuminates through the dichroic mirror. In another embodiment, the electroluminescent film is mounted on an exterior surface of the shell.
La présente invention a pour objet un ensemble de rétroviseur extérieur pour véhicule automobile constitué d'une enveloppe percée d'une ouverture. Un miroir logé à l'intérieur de l'enveloppe est monté de manière à obturer l'ouverture en question. Un film électroluminescent est électriquement connecté à un dispositif de déclenchement automatique de l'alimentation du miroir et produisant l'illumination de l'ensemble. Dans une version de l'invention, un miroir à revêtement dichroïque est utilisé et le film électroluminescent illumine le miroir par transparence. Dans une autre version de l'invention, le film électroluminescent est monté sur une surface extérieure de l'enveloppe.
