A mounting element (9) for the wheels (5) of rolling containers (1) comprises: a load-bearing member (10) rigidly attachable to a bottom edge of a container (1) designed to be rolled along a surface (S); an arm (14) supporting at least one wheel (5) designed to enable the container (1) to be rolled on the surface (S); a pivot (15) connecting the load-bearing member (10) to the arm (14); and a helical spring (16) located between load-bearing member (10) and the arm (14). The latter, together with the load-bearing member (10) defines a substantially sealed chamber (20) within which the spring (16) is enclosed and protected, and presents three end portions located at respective vertices of a triangle, a first portion (17) being rotatably attached to the pivot (15), a second portion (18) rotatably supporting the wheel (5) and a third portion (19) being attached to the spring (16).
