A filament-heater power supply includes a combination forward and flyback power converter for supplying electronically variable, isolated voltages to dimmable discharge lamp filaments while supplying a fixed do output voltage to a ballast control circuit. Hence, only a single ballast power supply is needed. The control circuit controls the level of filament voltage to operate the lamp filaments at an optimum temperature, even during dimming operation, thereby substantially extending lamp life. The filament-heater power supply provides a high degree of isolation among filament voltages while regulating and tracking the voltage across each filament. The filament-heater power supply can preheat the filaments to aid lamp starting, thereby extending the useful life of the lamp, and is also structured to sense when a lamp is not present in a fixture so that high voltage starting pulses are not applied to the terminals of an empty fixture.
Alimentation en courant de chauffage de filament comprenant un variateur à transfert combiné direct et en retour assurant l'application de tensions isolées réglables électroniquement à des filaments de lampe à décharge à intensité réglable tout en fournissant une tension de sortie en courant continu fixe à un circuit de commande de ballast. Ainsi, il suffit d'une seule alimentation de ballast. Le circuit de commande règle le niveau de tension appliqué au filament afin que les filaments de lampe soit utilisés à une température optimale, même au cours du réglage d'intensité, ce qui prolonge substantiellement la durée d'utilisation de la lampe. L'alimentation en courant de chauffage de filament offre un haut degré d'isolement entre les tensions appliquées au filament tout en régulant et contrôlant la tension appliquée à chaque filament. L'alimentation en courant de chauffage de filament assure le préchauffage des filaments pour faciliter la mise en fonction de la lampe, allongeant ainsi sa durée d'utilisation. Elle est aussi conçue pour détecter l'absence de lampe dans la prise, afin que les impulsions de démarrage haute tension ne soient pas appliquées aux bornes d'une prise vide.
