A multiple antenna mode control method based on a Station, includes the steps: step 1, the Station reports a multiple antenna mode set or subset supported by the Station to an Access Point (S102); step 2, the Access Point returns a multiple antenna mode set or subset supported by the Access Point to the Station, or returns the multiple antenna mode set or subset supported by both the Station and the Access Point to the Station directly (S104); step 3, a multiple antenna mode is chosen in the multiple antenna mode set or subset supported by both the Station and the Access Point for transmission between the Station and the Access Point (S106).Thereby, a best transmission quality can be achieved during the transmission, furthermore, the retransmission times and the error frame rate are reduced, and the network throughput is decreased.
