A multisegment laser diode structure is presented in the form of two spaced- apart linear waveguide segments and two spaced-apart ring-like waveguide segments, arranged such that each of the ring-like segments is optically coupled to each of the linear waveguide segments. At least one of the waveguide segments includes an active lasing material. The waveguide segments are thus arranged such that four separate electrical contacts can be provided to four waveguide segments, respectively, thereby enabling separate driving of each of the waveguide segments.
L'invention concerne une structure à diode laser à segments multiples, qui se présente sous la forme de deux segments de guide d'onde linéaires espacés et deux segments de guide d'onde annulaires espacés, arrangés de sorte que chaque segment annulaire est optiquement couplé à chaque segment de guide d'onde linéaire. Au moins un des segments de guide d'onde comprend un matériau actif. Les segments de guide d'onde sont ainsi arrangés qu'ils peuvent être dotés, respectivement, de quatre contacts électriques séparés, ce qui permet de commander séparément chaque segment de guide d'onde.
