Methods and devices are disclosed for providing map information to a user via a portable navigation device. In at least one embodiment, the method includes displaying map information including at least one icon and a route to a desired desti-nation, producing audible information related to the route, and altering the at least one icon for display when the audible informa-tion relates to the at least one icon. In at least one embodiment, a navigation device is disclosed for providing map information to a user. The navigation device includes a display device to display map information including at least one icon and a route to a de-sired destination, an output device to produce audible information related to the route, and a processor to alter the at least one icon for display when the audible information relates to the at least one icon.
L'invention concerne des procédés et des dispositifs permettant de fournir des informations cartographiques à un utilisateur par le biais d'un dispositif de navigation portatif. Dans au moins un mode de réalisation, le procédé consiste à afficher des informations cartographiques comprenant au moins une icône et un itinéraire jusqu'à une destination souhaitée, produire des informations audibles relatives à l'itinéraire et modifier la ou les icônes à afficher lorsque les informations audibles se rapportent à l'icône ou aux icônes. Dans au moins un mode de réalisation, un dispositif de navigation est prévu pour fournir des informations cartographiques à un utilisateur. Le dispositif de navigation comprend un dispositif d'affichage pour afficher des informations cartographiques comprenant au moins une icône et un itinéraire jusqu'à une destination souhaitée, un dispositif de sortie pour produire des informations audibles relatives à l'itinéraire et un processeur pour modifier la ou les icônes à afficher lorsque les informations audibles se rapportent à l'icône ou aux icônes.
