Methods implemented by a computer-based electronic assistant (60) include receiving and managing incoming calls to a subscriber. Methods include receiving and incoming call to the subscriber, establishing connection between assistant (60) and subscriber, linking the caller and subscriber in response to receiving a call accept command, and switching the assistant (60) to a background mode. The assistant (60) monitors the subscriber for a summoning command while in the background mode and in response to receiving a summoning command, switches the assistant into a foreground mode which enables the subscriber to initiate conferencing features. Other methods include providing an electronic reminder service to the subscriber via use of personal locator and multimedia communication type determination, identification of a third party caller to subscriber while in an established connection, and providing multiple media type interaction capabilities.
Procédé mis en oeuvre par un assistant électronique intégré à un ordinateur pour recevoir et gérer des communications entrantes destinées à un abonné et comprenant les étapes suivantes: réception de la communication entrante provenant de l'appelant; établissement d'une première liaison entre l'assistant électronique et l'appelant; établissement d'une deuxième liaison entre l'assistant électronique et abonné; à l'aide de la deuxième liaison, notification (par voie électronique) à l'abonné de la communication entrante; établissement, en réponse à la réception d'un ordre d'acceptation de communication émanant de l'abonné et transmis par la deuxième liaison, d'une communication entre l'appelant et l'abonné leur permettant de communiquer entre eux; après que l'appelant et l'abonné aient été reliés, commutation de l'assistant électronique en mode arrière-plan dans lequel l'assistant continue à surveiller l'abonné à l'aide de la deuxième liaison alors que l'abonné est relié à l'appelant; et en réponse à la réception d'un ordre instant, commutation de l'assistant en mode premier-plan, étant donné qu'en mode arrière-plan, l'assistant répond à un premier ensemble d'ordres comprenant au moins l'ordre instant, et qu'en mode premier-plan, il répond à un deuxième ensemble d'ordres plus important que le premier.
