Further, there are provided a microbe capable of producing the sialyltransferase; a vector containing the nucleic acid coding for the sialyltransferase; and a host cell having been transformed with the vector. Still further, there is provided a process for producing a recombinant .beta.-galactoside .alpha.2,6-sialyltransferase.
