The present invention relate to a novel synergistic composition of lignans exhibiting anticancer activities for breast, cervix, neuroblastoma, colon, liver, lung, mouth, ovary and prostate cancer obtained from the plant extract of Cedrus deodra, said composition comprising of (-)- Matairesinol in the range of 9 to 13 % by weight, (-)- Wikstromol in the range of 75 to 79 % by weight, Dibenzylbutyrolactol in the range of 7 to 11 % by weight, and Unidentified material in the range of 2.6 to 3% by weight; further, the synergistic composition of lignan is used in combination with pharmaceutically acceptable carriers for inhibiting growth of various human cancer cell lines selected from breast, cervix, neuroblastoma, colon, liver, lung, mouth, ovary and prostate tissues.

L'invention concerne une nouvelle composition synergétique à base de lignane qui possède un effet anticancéreux destiné à combattre le cancer du sein, du col de l'utérus, du côlon, du foie, des poumons, de la bouche, des ovaires, de la prostate ainsi que les neuroblastomes et qui provient d'extraits végétaux du cèdre pleureur (Cedrus deodara). La dite composition contient du matairésinol dans des proportions comprises entre 9 et 13 % en poids, (b) du wikstromol dans des proportions comprises entre 75 et 79 % en poids, du dibenzylbutyrolactole dans des proportions comprises entre 7 et 11 % en poids, et enfin, une substance non identifiée dans des proportions comprises entre 2,6 et 3 % en poids. Par ailleurs, la composition synergétique à base de lignane est associée à des excipients acceptables d'un point de vue pharmaceutique pour inhiber le développement de diverses lignées de cellules cancéreuses humaines dans les tissus du sein, du col de l'utérus, du côlon, du foie, des poumons, de la bouche, des ovaires, de la prostate et des neuroblastomes.
