Polyunsaturated fatty acid ("PUFA") or a pharmacologically acceptable salt or derivative thereof (such as EPA and/or DHA) is used in combination with at least one of an immunosuppressive agent or an antineoplastic agent, said agent(s) having at least one amino acid residue, or a pharmacologically acceptable salt or derivative thereof (such as methotrexate or cyclosporin) in the treatment of conditions involving acutely or chronically inadequate immune response. Specific conditions that may be treated include chronic inflammatory diseases (e.g. Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis) and tumour diseases (e.g. bowel cancer and prostate cancer). One advantage of preferred embodiments of the invention is that bioavailability of immunosuppressive or antineoplastic agents is increased.

Cette invention concerne un acide gras poly-insaturé ("PUFA") ou bien un sel ou un dérivé pharmacologiquement acceptable de cet acide (tel que EPA et/ou DHA) utilisé en combinaison avec au moins un agent immunosuppresseur ou un agent anti-néoplasique, le ou lesdits agents comportant au moins un résidu d'acides aminés, ou bien un sel ou un dérivé pharmacologiquement acceptable de ces agents (tels que le méthotrexate ou la cyclosporine) pour le traitement de troubles implquant une réponse immunitaire inadéquate de manière aiguë ou chronique. Les troubles spécifiques pouvant être traités comprennent les maladies inflammatoires (telles que la maladie de Crohn et la colite ulcéreuse) et les maladies tumorales (telles que le cancer des intestins et celui de la prostate). Dans des modes de réalisation préférés, l'invention offre notamment l'avantage d'accroître la biodisponibilité des agents immunosuppresseurs ou anti-néoplasiques.
