The invention relates to a pipe coupling for attachment to a pipe, the coupling comprising a sleeve 102, at least one end 102b of which is configured to receive therein an end of the pipe P1, P2; annular sealing means 112 disposed within the end of the sleeve 102b for encircling the pipe end; and compression means 104, 106 for compressing the annular sealing means 112 to form a seal between the pipe and the sleeve 102; characterised in that the sleeve and/or the sealing means are configured so as to define a leak path 126 between an axially inner portion 112a of the sealing means and the inner surface of the sleeve whereby in use pressurised fluid from the pipe may pass along the leak path 126 so as to pressurise a radially outer surface of the sealing means 112 and urge the sealing means against the compression means 104, 106 thereby to enhance the seal between the sealing means and the sleeve.
