A two-phase thermosyphon is an apparatus that can be used in heat recovery applications. For example, it can be used to transfer heat from warm air to cold air. In order to transfer heat, a two-phase thermosyphon uses a fluid that evaporates in one of its components and condenses in another. The component in which the fluid condenses is called the "condenser" and the component in which the fluid evaporates is called the "evaporator". The condenser releases heat whereas the evaporator absorbs it. In a two-phase thermosyphon, the condenser must be at an elevation that is higher than that of the evaporator. This is so because the fluid that condenses must flow into the evaporator under the effects of gravity alone. This constraint prevents the use of a two-phase thermosyphon in heat recovery applications where it is not possible to place the condenser above the evaporator. The present invention allows the condenser to be placed at any elevation with respect to the elevation of the evaporator. It permits the condenser and evaporator to transfer heat the same way they would in a two-phase thermosyphon. The present invention consists of a pump, reservoir and a series of pipes arranged in a special way to achieve that purpose.
