A polymeric pigment dispersant of a graft polymer having an acrylic polymer backbone and pending from the backbone, polyester side chains, cyclic imide groups and quaternary ammonium groups and the polymer having a calculated number average molecular weight of 8,000-50,000; wherein the graft copolymer is composed of: (a)10-50 %, by weight of the graft polymer, of an acrylic copolymer backbone having a number average molecular weight of 2,500-10,000 which, before reaction, contains 25-75 % by weight of polymerized oxirane containing monomers; (b) 20-85 %, by weight of the graft polymer, of a polyester copolymer, or mixture of different polyester copolymers, having a number average molecular weight of 500-10,000 which polyester copolymer is carboxylic acid functional and is attached to the backbone by a reaction of the carboxylic acid functional group with oxirane group of the backbone; (c) 1- 16 %, by weight of the graft polymer, of cyclic imide groups attached to the backbone by a reaction of the imide group with the oxirane group of the backbone and (d) 0.2-17 %, by weight of the graft polymer, of quaternary ammonium groups.
La présente invention concerne un dispersant pigmenté polymérique d'un polymère greffé présentant un squelette polymère acrylique avec, rattaché au squelette, des chaînes latérales polyester, et contenant des groupes imide cycliques et des groupes ammonium quaternaires, le polyester ayant un poids moléculaire moyen en nombre de 8000-50 000. Le polymère greffé comprend (a) de 10 à 50 % en poids d'un squelette de copolymère acrylique ayant un poids moléculaire moyen en nombre de 2500-10000 et qui, avant réaction, renferme de 25 à 75 % en poids de monomères contenant de l'oxyrane polymérisé; (b) de 20 à 85 % en poids d'un copolymère de polyester, ou d'un mélange de copolymères de polyester différents ayant un poids moléculaire moyen en nombre de 500-10000, lequel copolymère de polyester a une fonction acide carboxylique et est lié au squelette par une réaction du groupe fonctionnel acide carboxylique avec le groupe oxyrane du squelette; (c) de 1à 16 % en poids de groupes imide cycliques liés au squelette par une réaction du groupe imide avec le groupe oxyrane du squelette et (d) de 0,2 à 17 % en poids de groupes ammonium quaternaires.
