The portable mat for ground cover is formed by two structural members that on the bottom have stiffening ribs and removable anchors: slabs of any shape and joint elements, a shape of which depends on place where they are located. Inside of body of the portable mat they have a cruciform shape with four arms; on edges have a T-shape with three arms; on corners have an L--shape with two arms; or combination of all shapes specified above, and each arm has length equal to half of length or width of slabs with which they are connected. Shapes of edges between ends of arms have to match shapes of those parts of slabs with which the joint element should be connected, and theirs and slabs edges are formed in groove and tongue profiles for coupling together. Joint elements are fastened between each other or with slabs by locking devices.
