A folded paper label for insertion inside the transparent cover of a "Slimline Jewel Case" containing a digital "Compact Disk" ("CD"). The label is adapted for displaying printed text though the case's transparent hinged edge by means of a spine panel, folded at right angles to the label's larger face panel, thereby permitting said label to fit inside of said cover with its spine panel visible through said edge. A pair of corner cutouts formed through the label's main and spine panels may be provided for improved clearance around the cover's hinges. To enable a standard office printer to fully exploit the label's small spine panel, a full- sized "carrier page" may be provided for transporting said label through the printer while avoiding said printer's inaccessible hardware margins. A patch of low-tack, repositionable adhesive on said carrier page is used to temporarily affix it to the blank label and a coordinated word processing template is used to compose and print label text right up to the paper's edge. In another embodiment, the label information is printed directly onto the label without using a carrier page. In this simpler embodiment, the software template exploits the hardware margin characteristics of certain printers by positioning the label's spine portion towards the printer's accessible center portion, thereby enabling text to print flush to the label's edge. In yet another embodiment, a foldout portion adjacent to the label's spine portion serves as a spacer for distancing said spine portion at a known distance from the printer's hardware margin.
