Disclosed is a method for selective carboxylation of naphthoic acid, or other aromatic mono-acids to form primarily 2,3-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid (2,3- NDA) or other aromatic diacids which comprises reacting said aromatic mono- acid in the presence of one or more metal oxide catalysts, alone, or in combination, and in the presence of about 0.2 to 0.8 moles excess of base over aromatic mono-acid, at a temperature of about 380~C to about 420~C, and, in a second step, disproportionating the product of said selective carboxylation at a temperature above about 420~C to form a product with a greatly improved yield of 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid, or other aromatic dicarboxylic acid.
L'invention concerne un procédé de carboxylation sélective d'acide naphtoïque ou d'autres monoacides aromatiques afin de produire principalement de l'acide 2,3-naphthalène dicarboxylique (2,3-NDA) ou d'autres diacides aromatiques. Ce procédé consiste à faire réagir ce monoacide aromatique en présence d'un ou de plusieurs catalyseurs d'oxyde métallique, isolément ou combinaison avec d'autres composés, et en présence d'une base présentant une excédent d'environ 0,2 à 0,8 moles par rapport aux monoacides aromatiques, à une température de 380 ·C à 420 ·C environ, puis, dans une seconde étape, à soumettre le produit de cette carboxylation sélective à une dismutation réalisée à une température supérieure à 420 ·C environ, afin de préparer un produit donnant une quantité sensiblement accrue d'acide 2,6 naphtalène dicarboxylique ou d'un autre acide dicarboxylique aromatique.
