This invention relates to a process for sealing any foamed rubber product or foamed plastic product having a foam cell structure, excluding foamed polystyrene, to provide a continuous, flexible, impervious surface including applying to the surface a primer which penetrates partially into the foam cell and then applying a polymeric composition to the primer-treated surface. The invention also relates to formulations used in the process and products produced by the process.

Cette invention a trait à un procédé permettant de rendre étanche n'importe quel produit en caoutchouc mousse ou en plastique alvéolaire pourvu d'une structure cellulaire de mousse, à l'exclusion du polystyrène expansé, afin d'obtenir une surface uniforme, souple et imperméable. Ce procédé consiste à appliquer sur la surface une couche primaire pénétrant en partie dans la structure cellulaire de mousse puis à appliquer une composition polymère sur la surface traitée au moyen de la couche primaire. Cette invention porte également sur des formulations utilisées dans le cadre dudit procédé ainsi que sur des produits obtenus grâce à ce procédé.
