The invention relates to a process for controlling the precipitation of adhesive impurities ("stickies") from paper material suspensions in papermaking. According to the invention, the deposit of stickies is controlled by adding to the paper material suspension an effective quantity of alkoxylation products obtainable by reacting alkylene oxides with C10-22 carboxylic acid derivatives and/or C10-22 carboxylic acids containing carboxylic acid radicals with at least on OH group in position 9, 10, 13 and/or 14.
