This invention relates to a process for the manufacture of aromatic carboxylic acids by exothermic liquid phase oxidation of an aromatic feedstock. More particularly, this invention relates to the efficient energy recovery of the exotherm produced by the liquid phase oxidation of an aromatic feedstock. An apparatus useful in recovery of energy from the preparation of aromatic carboxylic acids by the exothermic liquid phase reaction of an aromatic feedstock is described where the primary means of energy recovery is by raising moderate pressure steam. This is coupled with a process to recovery low temperature energy using a process commonly known as an organic Rankine cycle and/or a heat pump. The combination of energy recovery methods increases the overall energy recovery and enables the recovery of reaction energy as either thermal energy (steam) or work or a combination of both.
Cette invention se rapporte à un procédé servant à la fabrication d'acides carboxyliques aromatiques par l'oxydation en phase liquide exothermique d'une matière de réserve aromatique. Cette invention concerne plus particulièrement la récupération efficace de l'énergie exothermique produite par l'oxydation en phase liquide d'une matière de réserve aromatique. A cet effet, on décrit un appareil servant à récupérer l'énergie provenant de la préparation d'acides carboxyliques aromatiques par la réaction en phase liquide exothermique d'une matière de réserve aromatique, appareil dans lequel le moyen principal de récupération d'énergie consistant à produire de la vapeur de pression modérée. Cet appareil est associé à un procédé qui récupère de l'énergie basse température en utilisant un processus du type cycle de Rankine organique et/ou pompe thermique. La combinaison de ces méthodes de récupération d'énergie augmente la récupération globale d'énergie et permet de récupérer de l'énergie de réaction soit sous la forme d'énergie thermique (vapeur) soit sous la forme de trois vagues soit sous la forme d'une combinaison des deux.
