The present invention relates to a process for preparing methacrylic acid or methacrylic esters, comprising the process steps of IA) preparing 3-hydroxyisobutyric acid by a process comprising the process step of contacting a cell which has been genetically modified with respect to its wild type such that, in comparison to its wild type, it is capable of forming more 3-hydroxyisobutyric acid or polyhydroxyalkanoates based on 3-hydroxyisobutyric acid, with a nutrient medium comprising, as the carbon source, carbohydrates, glycerol, carbon dioxide, methanol, L-valine or L-glutamate, under conditions under which 3-hydroxyisobutyric acid or polyhydroxyalkanoates based on 3-hydroxyisobutyric acid are formed from the carbon source, if appropriate purifying the 3-hydroxyisobutyric acid to free it of the nutrient medium and if appropriate neutralizing the 3-hydroxyisobutyric acid, IB) dehydrating the 3-hydroxyisobutyric acid to form methacrylic acid and if appropriate esterifying methacrylic acid. The invention also relates to a process for preparing polymethacrylic acid or polymethacrylic esters.
L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'acide méthacrylique ou d'esters d'acide méthacrylique, consistant à produire de l'acide 3-hydroxyisobutyrique selon un procédé comprenant l'opération de mise en contact d'une cellule, qui est génétiquement modifiée de telle sorte par rapport à son type sauvage que, comparativement à son type sauvage, elle est susceptible de former plus d'acide 3-hydroxyisobutyrique ou de polyhydroxyalkanoates à base d'acide 3-hydroxyisobutyrique, avec un milieu de culture contenant, en tant que source de carbone, des hydrates de carbone, de la glycérine, du dioxyde de carbone, du méthanol, de la L-valine ou du L-glutamate, dans des conditions où de l'acide 3-hydroxyisobutyrique ou des polyhydroxyalkanoates à base d'acide 3-hydroxyisobutyrique se forment à partir de la source de carbone, le procédé comprenant éventuellement la purification de l'acide 3-hydroxyisobutyrique hors du milieu de culture ainsi qu'éventuellement la neutralisation de l'acide 3-hydroxyisobutyrique. Le procédé comprend également la déshydratation de l'acide 3-hydroxyisobutyrique avec formation d'acide méthacrylique et éventuellement l'estérification de l'acide méthacrylique. L'invention porte également sur un procédé de production d'acide polyméthacrylique ou d'esters d'acide polyméthacrylique.
