Disclosed herein is an aqueous process for preparing high yields of methyl dithiocarbazinate by reacting carbon disulfide and hydrazine in an effective ratio, in an aqueous medium to form hydrazinium dithiocarbazinate salt followed by methylating the hydrazinium dithiocarbazinatewith methyl bromide.
