ABSTRACT Production of an aliphatic amide of the general formula Image [I] wherein R1 through R3 may be the same or different and each means a hydrogen at,om or a lower alkyl group or a salt thereof, Image [II] wherein R1 through R3 are as defined above, with a carbamoyl-containing Wittig reagent and reacting the reaction product, either without isolation or after isolation, further with a dinitrogen trioxide or, in the presence of an acid or a nitrite This process has the advantage of being less costly and of reducing the number of steps involved.
