A process for producing divalent metal carboxylates having the formula: M(CH3(CH2)xCOO-)2, wherein M is the divalent metal cation, zinc (Zn+2) or copper (Cu+2) and x is zero or 1 is disclosed. In this process, an anhydrous C2-C3 carboxylic acid is admixed with a basic divalent metal compound that is an oxide, hydroxide or carbonate of Zn+2 or Cu+2 in the absence of added solvent or other diluent. The divalent metal carboxylate so produced is used as a biologically available and economical source of trace metals for supplementation in animal diets.
Procédé de production de carboxylates métalliques bivalents de formule M(CH¿3?(CH¿2?)¿x?COO?-¿)¿2?, dans laquelle M est le cation métallique bivalent, soit zinc (Zn?+2¿) ou cuivre (Cu?+2¿) et x est zéro ou 1. Dans ledit procédé, un acide carboxylique anhydre C¿2?-C¿3? est mélangé avec un composé métallique bivalent basique qui est un oxyde, hydroxyde ou carbonate de Zn?+2¿ ou Cu?+2¿ en l'absence de solvant ou d'autre diluant ajouté. Ledit carboxylate métallique bivalent ainsi produit est utilisé comme une source biologiquement disponible et économique d'oligo-éléments à titre d'apport complémentaire pour les régimes alimentaires animaux.
